As you may recall, I mentioned there are several marketing
strategies to fundamentally build a business. The
strategies are simple but not always easy, however, if they
are coupled with vision, vigor and a little tenacity, both
business and life can be enjoyed with ease and results
produced with velocity.
Remember as these strategies unfold in your reading, I
never said it would be easy, however I am saying, it “can”
be done with ease AND velocity with the right energy going
in the right direction.
And you must keep in mind that you will have to address
what I called the “human condition.”
When I first thought I understood the strategies unfolding
before you, my first reaction was “I already know that”. I
knew they worked but the truth of the matter was my bank
account did not reflect that I really “knew” them or better
yet understood them or “implemented” them. I’m sure you’ve
experienced thinking you know something but your results
prove otherwise, right?
The thing that will come between you and success is the
“human condition”, your barriers, road blocks, and what you
think you already know. Be aware of the barriers and road
blocks as you read these:
Vision must be first… After determining your vision, you
must:
* Include your vision in the marketing materials.
* Tie your vision into your product or service.
Remember I said vision is the foundation and basis from
which you will operate. It is the foundation for your every
move, your every action. The vision you create is also
uniquely yours, therefore bringing a competitive edge to
the market place. Communicating your vision and tying your
product and service together effectively are vitally
important.
Another critical part of effective marketing is identifying
the “ideal” client.
Some people start a business for one of three reasons:
Inspiration – some begin inspired by an idea, something
they’ve experienced or have seen or by someone else they’ve
admired. They don’t spend the time to first take inventory
and look within to determine their true heart’s longing,
therefore the business is set up to fail from the very
beginning. Their heart isn’t in it and neither commitment
nor vision has been established. In some, not all, but some
cases, inspiration is short lived and then one is left with
the reality of what it takes to have a business not only
survive but thrive in today’s market place. The reality of
what it really takes may force one to quit.
Desperation – some start a business because they have to do
something. Perhaps circumstances of a lost job, injury or
need for additional income causes one to start a business.
And while some of those reasons are motivation enough to
keep you in action, the success of the business lies in the
heart of desperation rather than an authentic place -an
authentic place which pulls you “freely” to succeed which
vision will create. Desperation tends to create obstacles
and challenges that aren’t welcomed or desired.
Vision and purpose – the most successful “fulfilled”
business owner starts the business with vision and purpose
in mind. Steven Covey says “Start with the end in mind”…The
successful and effective individual will do just that,
begin with the “vision” in mind, identify who they want to
work with, find out what they need and want and provide
it. After going through this process, you will have begun
establishing the ideal client.
As you inquire into finding the ideal client:
Some questions to ask yourself are:
Who do I want to work with? What do they need and want?
Taking inventory of my vision, who is a fit for me to work
with? Who is ready to do business right now? Who is ready
to receive the offering or product?
These are just a “few” questions to begin uncovering the
“ideal client”….
Remember, you don’t have to be in business alone or
struggle to make it successful. You also must “implement”
the strategies channeling the right energy in the right
direction.
